The end is in sight for our Early Careers Teachers’ two-year induction

We are proud of our first cohort of Early Careers Teachers (ECTs), who are coming to the close of their journey after working incredibly hard during the programme. Their next step is to continue their growth as a teacher with our many continuous development opportunities.

The Early Career Framework was introduced by the Department of Education to provide support and guidance to new teachers throughout their first two years of teaching.

The framework is structured to further develop Early Careers Teachers’ professional practice through online learning, virtual training and the support of a fully trained mentor.

We are working with Alpha Teaching School Hub in partnership with Best Practice Network to deliver Early Career Framework training. They have supported our Early Careers Teachers by making their venture from Initial Teacher Training into the teaching world simpler, ironing out any concerns and sharing their experiences.

We chatted with some of our Early Careers Teachers who reflected on the last 24 months. Megan Miller, English teacher at OHA, said:

“Completing my two-year ECT programme has been a great benefit to my practice as a teacher with plenty of fantastic training and resources to support. Along with regular mentor meetings and extra timetabled sessions to work through our training, ECTs receive a huge amount of support from the school which has allowed us as a group to become much more experienced teachers.”

We’re extending our heartfelt congratulations to all our ECTs, who have flourished since the beginning of the programme. The completion of this important phase marks a significant milestone and they have been extremely dedicated, hard-working and resilient in their professional development.

They eagerly embraced new challenges and have gained valuable skills that we are sure will guide them through the next stages of their teaching paths. Good luck with your future endeavours!
