As the new Orsett Heath Academy enters its third year and continues to grow, we are looking to recruit a talented and ambitious teacher to lead our SEND work. This is a unique opportunity to further develop and shape SEND provision in a new school. You will be working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement the whole school strategy, shape and manage provision in the school, lead the learning support team and provide support, guidance and training to teachers.

The successful applicant will be passionate about removing barriers to learning for SEND pupils. They will be able to work in partnership with parents, teachers and external agencies where necessary and will regularly review the appropriateness and accessibility of our curriculum offer.

We welcome applications from existing SENCOs who would relish the opportunity to develop whole school provision in a new school as well as experienced teachers who wish to train to become a qualified SENCO and who have the relevant skills and attributes to be successful in the role.

If you have energy and passion in abundance and would like to join a unique school with a dynamic and collaborative team, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Why Orsett Heath Academy?

Orsett Heath Academy opened in 2020 with 120 Year 7 Pupils. We are oversubscribed all three current year groups. During the 2023/24 academic year we will move to our new school building. The school is currently located in purpose built accommodation at Thurrock Rugby Club, adjacent to the final school site. The school will grow to be a large community 11-16 school with 1200 pupils. We have assembled a highly motivated and able staff team and are looking for people who share our values to help us grow.
