We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Drama/ Dance teacher to join our expanding Dance and Drama department at William Edwards School. Applicants should be passionate about their subject and believe in building strong relationships and supporting pupils to be successful. The successful applicant will be able to develop, plan and deliver effective and high quality learning experiences to all students across key stage 3 and 4. You may also be required to work at Orsett Heath Academy if necessary. If you are an enthusiastic and talented teacher at any stage of their career who wants to contribute to a once in a career opportunity to help and support the Trust as it grows we look forward to hearing from you.

Why William Edwards School?

William Edwards is a large, successful, harmonious and thriving mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. Pupil outcomes across the school are historically strong. However, life at William Edwards is about so much more than just GCSE outcomes. We are proud of our national reputation for sport, the arts are extremely strong and we are proud to boast the largest Duke of Edinburgh Award cohort in the East of England. We are one of only a small number of secondary schools nationally to hold both the Artsmark Platinum and the Youth Sports Trust Gold Award for our work in these diverse fields.

Following the school’s most recent inspection in May 2019, Ofsted said that “pupils who spoke to inspectors were effusive about their experience in school” and were are delighted that our recent inspection captured our considerable strengths in teaching, pastoral care, behaviour, pupil support and curriculum. We are pleased that these ‘cornerstones’ of high quality education remain strong at the school.

Why Orsett Heath Academy?

Orsett Heath Academy opened in 2020 with 120 Year 7 Pupils. We were oversubscribed in both Year 7 and Year 8 for the September 2021 intake. In 2022 we will move to our new school building. The school is currently located in purpose built accommodation at Thurrock Rugby Club, adjacent to the final school site. The school will increase its intake in 2022 to 240 and grow to be a large community 11-16 school with 1200 pupils. We have assembled a highly motivated and able staff team and are looking for people who share our values to help us grow.
